OUTSTANDING YOUTH PROGRAM

QCHS Leadership Class was honored at a luncheon on Friday, February 3rd.  Following is the presentation speech given by Linda Willis, director of Learning for Life:

Where to begin with this amazing group of students?   Take notice now, because Queen City High School Leadership students will no doubt be the leaders of tomorrow and you’ll want them in your organization. They led an incredible fund raising effort across their entire school district.  I tried to suggest just doing one campus, but no, they wanted to do the whole district. Also, at the beginning of this school year, these students participated in the first ever Learning for Life Leadership Development Workshop at Camp Preston Hunt. It was a great opportunity for our council to create this workshop and a real joy for the volunteers who supported it.    But then in December, it was my honor to observe these students as they undertook a unique opportunity at Ronald McDonald House in Little Rock. They planned a Mexican feast, bought the food and left school on the big yellow bus early on Dec 7.  The students prepared the noon meal on site (required) for the 40+ residents at RMH.  They also stuffed toiletry bags for the residents…many of whom may have left their homes in the middle of the night with a very sick child. It is my honor to recognize the QCHS Leadership class with the Outstanding Youth Program certificate.
