The Morris Upchurch Middle School Math and Science Team competed at the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association State Championship Meet on Saturday, April 1, 2023, in San Antonio. The Numbers Sense team and General Math team won the third-place team trophies. When the four events were totaled, Queen City was the sixth-place overall team out of twenty-one teams. The MUMS team consisted of 18 sixth, seventh, and eighth-grade students who brought home nine trophies for placing in the top 10 in an event and eight medals for placing in the top 20 in an event. MUMS had 2 State Champions in their event.
